Возникновение человека
Эта диаграмма изображает развитие жизни на Земле от ее появления в первичном океане юной планеты и далее - через эволюцию человека, показывая его физическое, социальное, техническое и интеллектуальное становление вплоть до нашей эры. В первом столбце каждой из четырех секций диаграммы названы геологические эры, на которые разделена история нашей планеты; во втором столбце указываются археологические эпохи истории человека; в третьем столбце помещены ключевые даты развития жизни и наиболее важных свершений человека (время и события, рассматривающиеся в данной книге серии 'Возникновение человека', выделены жирным шрифтом). Диаграмма выполнена без соблюдения масштаба. Почему это так, легко понять, рассмотрев полосу внизу, изображающую в правильном масштабе 4,5 миллиарда лет, которые охватывает диаграмма, - весь известный период существования человека настолько мал (крайний справа), что его невозможно выделить
